MPs want child rapists arrested, punished soon

MPs want child rapists arrested, punished soon

Jul 13, 2015 - 17:11

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon or lower house of parliament on Monday asked security officials to arrest individuals involved in raping a three year-old child in capital Kabul.

A couple of days back, a three year-old boy was found dead after being gang-raped in the limits of the 8th municipal district.

Nazifa Zaki, a lawmaker from Kabul, condemned the incident as in-human and un-Islamic act and demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

Maulviinfo-icon Abdul Rahman Rahmani, his colleague from northern Balkh province, said being Muslims and faithful, the lower house members should follow the case until its logical end.

He lambasted international human rights organisations and civil societyinfo-icon activists for failing to prevent such attacks.

Another lawmaker Rubaba Parwani said Kabul police chief and the eighth municipal district police chief had the prime responsibility to arrest the individuals involved in raping and killing of the child.

Fawzia Kofi, a female lawmaker from Badakhshan, accused security officials of negligence in arresting the perpetrators of such accidents. She said father of the child had been tirelessly searching for his son’s whereabouts and finally found him mercilessly killed.

Deputy speaker Haji Qadir asked the house internal security commission to follow the case from all aspects.

Brig. Gen. Faridon Obaidi, criminal investigation chief, said investigations had been opened into the case and the perpetrators would be arrested soon.
