Kidnapped passengers freed in Laghman
JAALABAD (Pajhwok): Officials said on Wednesday six passengers who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway in eastern Laghman province had been released by their captors.
The six men were snatched from a vehicle on the road in Khairkhel area of the Qarghai district at about 9am and moved to an unknown location, the governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But they were released in the afternoon about 3pm as a result of efforts by the governor’s house and tribal elders.
The incident comes few months after gunmen kidnapped more than a dozen people on the road in Aziz Khan Kas area and later freed them.
