Ministry cancels licenses of 60 transport firms
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has cancelled licenses of 60 transport companies over law violations and not paying taxes to the government, an official said on Thursday.
MoTCA spokesman Hikmatullah Qawanich told Pajhwok Afghan News all transport companies were responsible to renew their licenses and documents every year and share reports with the ministry, but some of the companies did not do so.
He said the move to cancel licenses of some companies came after a special commission of the ministry reviewed their documents.
He said the move would help bring reforms to the transport system and improve transport relations with neighbouring countries.
The spokesman said the process to review and cancel licenses of transport companies had been ongoing for the last four months and would continue in future as well.
The official did not name the companies whose licenses have been cancelled. Currently more than 1,000 transport companies are licensed by the MoTCA.
