Security measures for Eid in Kabul reviewed

Security measures for Eid in Kabul reviewed

Jul 16, 2015 - 16:20

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Security officials on Thursday reviewed security measures put in place on account of Eidul Fitr festival in the central capital Kabul.

The high-ranking security officials discussed the overall security situation and possible threats during Eid days.

All city district police chiefs, executive officials at the police headquarters, and officials from the Afghan National Army 111 division took part in the meeting.

Kabul police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said security organs had chalked out a joint strategy for Eid security under which mosques, parks, roads and highways would be monitored and protected.

He said extraordinary security measures had been adopted so that the residents of the central capital could enjoy the religious festival with zeal and could exchange visits without any fear.

He, however, said the enemy forces would try to use different ways in the special days keeping in mind the high level security arrangements.

Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Taimani locality, told Pajhwok Afghan News people were in full spirit to celebrate Eid despite recent suicide bombings and other incidents of violence.

He praised the efforts of security forces and demanded extra security measures during Eid holidays to prevent violence and terrorist attacks.
