KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A suicide bombing and a bomb blast killed two people, including a policeman in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Friday.

A suicide bomber wanted to enter an Eid Gah mosqueinfo-icon in the Zazi Maidan district on Thursday night and detonated his explosives when police attempted to stop him, Khost police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the attacker wanted to hide in the mosque and carry out a suicide attack during Eid prayers.

A member of the provincial council and resident of the district, Janmir Zazi, the blast killed a policeman and the attacker. There were no other casualties, he added.

Elsewhere in the province, a civilian was killed and four others, including a child, were wounded in a bomb blast that took place in a graveyard in the Alisher district on Friday morning.

Ghairat confirmed the blast, but provided no details.

However, a security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the blast targeted family members of a deceased visiting his grave.

He said the deceased person was a police official who was killed during a clash with Talibaninfo-icon militants some time ago.

No group, including the Taliban, has claimed credit for the blast.
