1 killed, 37 injured as bus overturns in Farah
FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): At least one person died and another 37 were wounded on Friday when a public transport bus overturned on the Herat-Kandahar highway in western Farah province, police said.
The 303 bus was carrying passengers from western Herat province to southern Kandahar when it overturned in Seyah Toot area of Gulistan district at about at 4am, Farah police spokesman Iqbal Bahar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
“As a result, one person has died and 37 others sustained injuries, including women and children,” he said, blaming the incident on reckless driving.
The condition of a dozen injured people was said to be critical, the official said.
Several bloody accidents have taken place on the Kabul-Kandahar and Kandahar-Herat highway due to careless driving and rundown condition of the road. The speedy driving is said to be a result of insecurity on the road.
