ASADABAD (Pajhwok): As many as 72 cases of measles have been detected in eastern Kunar province, where a vaccination campaign is ongoing, an official said on Saturday.
Public Health Director Dr. Assadullah Fazli told Pajhwok Afghan News 72 measles cases had been detected in the last six months alone in different districts of the province.
The measles was a dangerous virus that attacked children and the symptoms were severe fever and spots appearing on the affected child’s body, he said, stressing timely treatment.
The vaccination camping was underway in most provinces of the country, he said, adding the drive could not be initiated due to security reasons in eastern Nuristan and northern Takhar.
