Floods wash away hundreds of homes in Jawzjan
SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): As many as 700 houses in Qarqin and Khame Ab districts of northern Jawzjan province have been damaged following heavy floods, an official said on Sunday.
Deputy Governor Abdul Rahman Mahmoodi told Pajhwok Afghan News floods submerged homes where a number of families were in dire need of relief and assistance.
He said 500 homes in Qarqin and 200 homes in Khame Ab districts were damaged due to floods and the resident fled to Shiberghan, the provincial capital and neighboring Balkh province.
Mohammad Rasoul, the resident of Khame Ab district said: “I had to leave my house due to flood and now I lived with my six family members under open sky.” He demanded assistance to feed his families and warned of grave consequences in case of negligence.
