11 abducted passengers in Baghlan released
PUL-I-KHUMRI/ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Eleven abducted people have been released unharmed in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Three days back, 16 passengers traveling from Dahna Ghori district to Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, were abducted by gunmen. However, four women and a man were immediately freed and the remaining 11 were released later on.
The 16 passengers were kidnapped to avenge the capture of 400 domestic animals by the residents of Dahna Ghori in a meadow. The captors refused to return the animals to their owners.
Police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabbar Purdili said a deal between the two parties was struck with the help of the deputy governor and local elders. Both side agreed to free abducted individuals and captured animals.
