11 alleged criminals detained in Helmand
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Security officials in southern Helmand province on Tuesday claimed arresting 11 alleged criminals on charges of possessing fake currency, supporting terrorists, planting bombs and committing robberies.
Helmand police chief Maj. Gen. Nabi Jan Mullahkhail told Pajhwok Afghan News that police had netted four groups of criminals in Lashkargah, the provincial capital and some districts.
Four people were arrested for possessing fake Pakistani currency, he said, adding the detainees brought the rupees from Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta.
In a separate incident, a prayer leader keeping explosives in his house and transferring them to militants was also arrested in Safyan area of Lashkargah, the provincial capital.
Three more people were detained on robbery, planting bombs and other charges in Marja and Greshk districts, Mullahkhail said. A Kalashnikov and a car were also seized from the detainees, who have confessed to their crimes.
