Afghan cricket fans celebrate team’s achievement

KABUL (Pajhwok): A huge fans in capital Kabul celebrated the win of Afghan Cricket team to qualify for cricket Twenty-20 World cup.

The Afghan cricket team rose to fifth in the 2016 world T-20 Cup qualifying round matches held in Ireland and Scotland.

President’s legal advisor Abdul Ali Mohammadi, president’s media advisor Haji Fazal Karim, several officials from the Presidential Palace, member of parliament, Director Afghan Cricket Board Shafiqullah Stanikzai and several media persons participated in the gathering organized by AlKozai Group.

“Qualifying to world T-20 cup was one of the big achievements of our cricket team,” Director Afghan Cricket Board Shafiqullah Stanakzai said, adding that it was consecutively fourth times to qualify for the cup.

Stanikzai said that the team would play against Zimbabwe, Ireland and several other teams during the year.

A number of officials praised the team’s performance and appreciated the efforts of the players.

The ACB director also thanked officials for participation in the gathering and their appreciation of the cricket team. Prizes were distributed among players at the end of the ceremony.

Separately, ACB spokesman Farid Hotak said that Afghanistan-A cricket team would play against Sari Lank-A team in Colombo. Afghanistan-A tem in 21 days long tour would play two 4-Day matches and four 1-Day matches, he added
