PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A school principal was killed and three others were wounded in an attack by unidentified gunmen in the Mohammad Aghi district of central Logar province, an official said on Monday.

Mohammad Shapoor Arab, provincial educationinfo-icon director, told Pajhwok Afghan News Dilawar Khan, the principal of Safid Sang High School, was shot dead by unknown armed men.

The incident took place when the principal along with three education department officers was carrying salaries of around 1,000 teachers, he added.

The attackers failed to take the money, he said, adding that three of the officers were also wounded in the incident.

A resident of the area Dadullah said: “The armed men were waiting on the road and then opened fire on a corolla car and left one man dead and several others wounded.”

Logar police chief Col. Qari Mohammad Ora confirmed the incident and said police have been reached at the scene and started investigations.

Elsewhere, an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was killed and another wounded in Pashtoon Zarghoon district of western Herat province.

Najibullah Najibi, spokesman of the 207th Zafar Military Corps, said the incident took place when ANA soldiers were on their way from the district to Herat city.

He said one ANA soldier was killed and another wounded when their vehicle they were travelling in hit by a roadside bombing.

Talibaninfo-icon militants did not comment on the incident.
