Tribal leader shot dead; 2 burglars detained
ZARANJ/ FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a tribal elder in southwestern Nimroz province while two thieves were captured in western Farah province, officials said on Monday.
An official who wished to go unnamed told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Qudus Barahawee, a tribal elder, was killed by two motorcyclists in the third police district in Zaranj City, the capital of the province.
The attackers managed to flee the scene after committing the crime. The residents said the man was killed as a result of personal enmity.
Yusafullah, a doctor at Zaranj Civil Hospital, said the victim was seriously wounded who succumbed injuries in the hospital.
Three weeks ago, a local leader was killed in a similar incident in Faryab province. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Meanwhile, two robbers were arrested in Posht Koh district of Farah province.
Provincial police spokesman Iqbal Bahir said the robbers Mohammad Askar and Bahdar were the residents of Tiraki area.
