9 welfare projects worth 14m afs implemented in Samangan
AIBAK (Pajhwok): At least nine welfare projects -- benefitting around 2,000 families -- have been completed in the Feroz Nakhchir district of northern Samangan province, an official said on Tuesday.
Mohammad Asif Dawlatshahi, director of rural rehabilitation and development, told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects were completed at a cost of 14 million afghanis. Local residents paid 10 percent of the expenses.
The projects, he said, included the construction of deep wells, a plumbing network of houses in three villages and protective walls. More than 1,600 families would benefit from potable water facilities and 300 more families from other services.
Mohammad Humayun Barlas, Feroz Nakhchir district chief, urged residents to cooperate in protecting the facilities and overall security of the district. “Without people’s cooperation, security problems would rise and no project would be implemented,” he warned.
