Taliban military chief for Baghlan detained: NDS
KABUL/PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The Taliban’s military chief for northern Baghlan province was captured in the capital Kabul on Wednesday, a statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said.
The statement said that Mohammad Yasin along with one of his accomplices was arrested during a special operation by the spy network in the first police district of Kabul.
Yasin was directed from Peshawar city of Pakistan to assign shadow district and police chiefs in Baghlan province, it said, adding that he had plan to go back to Pakistan when Afghan intelligence forces identified and captured him.
Abdul Qadim Niazai, Baghlan deputy acting governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Yaseen’s detention was effective for security situation of the province.
“We praise the performance of NDS. It is important to capture the Taliban militants who come from Pakistan,” Niazai added.
