Dozens of rebels dead in Ghazni, Nangarhar operations
JALALABAD/GHAZNI CITY/MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Twenty-four insurgents have been killed and a dozen others wounded during clearing operation in eastern Nangarhar and southern Ghazni provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Fourteen insurgents perished and five others injured in the ongoing offensive in Nangarhar province, a statement from the 201st Silab Military Corps said.
Two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers had also been wounded in the clashes, the statement added.
Elsewhere, ten militnats were killed and severn wounded in an overnight clash in the Ab Band district of Ghazni province, Shafiq Nang, the governor’s spokesman said.
Three Pakistani militants were among the dead, he said, adding that security officials escaped unhurt in the gun battle.
However, Taliban’s Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed killing three ANA officials in the ensuing clashes.
In Southern Kandahar, unidentified gunmen have killed two people in separate incidents, an official said. Samim Khapalwak, the governor’ spokesman, said unknown gunmen opened fire on a civilian.
