Foreign soldier, 8 contractors dead in Qasaba attack

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): One foreign soldier and eight contractors were killed when Talibaninfo-icon mounted group attack on a military center of foreign forces in Qasaba locality in capital Kabul late on Friday.

The brazen attack, which followed two suicide attacks earlier in the day, erupted at around 10: 00 pm.

“One Resolute Support servicemember and eight Resolute Support contracted civilians were killed during an attack on a coalition facility in Kabul,” the statement added.

The statement said that it is RS’s policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

 On the other hand, security officials said that the contracted civilians killed in the attack were Afghan civilians.

Hidayatullah, an eyewitness had previously said that a heavy explosion was occurred followed by gun shots in Qasaba area.

He said that a group of militants and suicide bombers targeted the counternarcotics department close to the Ministry of Interior.

A policeman from the scene said that militants were exchanging fire with security forces and insurgents were armed with small and heavy weapons.

One suicide bomber blew himself up on the door of the facility, paving way for others to unleash gun battle, he added.
