2 dead, 7 hurt as blast hit Kandahar passenger bus
KABUL (Pajhwok): Two persons were killed and seven others wounded when a blast hit a passenger bus in southern Kandahar province, an official said Sunday.
Kandahar governor’s spokesman Samim Khpalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place when passenger bus struck by a roadside bomb in Khak-i-Chopan area of Maiwand district last night.
Two civilians were killed and seven others wounded in the incident, he said, adding that the wounded were shifted to Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar City, the provincial capital, for treatment.
Zubair, a resident of the area, said the bus was on its way from Kandahar to Helmand when it hit the explosive device.
Civilians’ casualties have recently increased in different parts of the country. Hundreds of civilians have suffered fatalities in three suicide attacks in capital Kabul during the past two days.
Based on a report from the United Nations, at least 4,921 civilians have been killed and 1,592 others injured only in the past six months of the ongoing year in Afghanistan.
