KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): German special representative for Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon (SRAP) Sabine Sparwasser on Wednesday said Afghanistan’s latest stance about Pakistan was understandable and her country wanted cordial relations between the neighbours.

Sparwasser met National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar in Kabul and discussed with him bilateral relations, German assistance for Afghanistan, economic development, security and other issues of mutual interest, according to Tawab Ghorzang, the National Security Council (NSC) spokesman.

He quoted the German special representative as saying that her country could understand Afghanistan’s policy regarding Pakistan and wanted better relations between the two countries.

For his part, Aatmar said developing cordial relation with all neighbouring states was one of the Afghanistan foreign policy’s main pillars.

He said bilateral relations with Pakistan had been linked to an eight lines letter President Ashraf Ghani had sent to Islamabad.

He said an Afghan delegation would visit Pakistan on Thursday for special talks on future ties between the both countries.

The delegation to Islamabad includes Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Acting Defence Minister Masoum Stanakzai and spymaster Rahmatullah Nabil.

Atmar said Afghanistan would bring into use all resources to provide security to its people.

German Ambassador Marcos Putzel was also present at the meeting.
