5 members of Haqqani Network detained, claims NDS
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the group had been detained while four other members of the network were killed in a gunbattle in the Niazi locality of Pul-i-Alam.
A statement from the NDS said Mohammad Ishaq was the organiser who transferred suicide bombers, Shabir, Hamed, Sayed Agha and Hamidullah had given refuge to the suicide attackers.
The detainees had confessed to receiving military and suicide attack training for one month in Tal, an area close to Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan. They were then sent to Logar province to enter Kabul for attacks, the statement added.
Some weapons, explosives and ammunitions were also seized from the group. But the NDS did not name the detained men or those killed in the firefight.
