Paktia doctors go on strike against PC head

Paktia doctors go on strike against PC head

Aug 15, 2015 - 18:44

SHAHRANA (Pajhwok): Doctors at southeastern Paktika Civil Hospital on Saturday observed boycott from treating patients against Provincial council (PC) head who manhandled a doctor, a medic said.

Dr. Chinar, director the civil hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News that head of provincial council misbehaved with a doctor on Friday night and threatened to sack him from his duty.

“The doctors will resume their duties after PC head is brought to justice,” he added.

Haji Saidullah, head of healthinfo-icon committee, said PC head misused his authority and threatened doctors for no reason.

Dozens of patients gathered in front of the hospital. Mohammad Tahir, one of the patients, said: “We have come early this morning and the doors of the hospital are closed since doctors have observed boycott from their duties.”

Provincial council head Afsar Khan refused to comment on the incident.

Secretary PC Aziz Argoni said that PC head paid visit to hospital to enquire about the health of one of his relatives where one of the patients complained against the doctor.

The PC head exchanged harsh words with the doctor and warned to dismiss him from his job.

Director health Dr. Wali said that he had discussed the issue with the governor and other officials who ensured opening of hospital soon for patients and PC head would be treated according to law.
