Helmand governor wants improved security in a month
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The governor of southern Helmand province on Sunday directed security forces to improve law and order in this restive province within one month.
Chairing a high-level meeting of security officials, Mirza Khan Rahimi said he would himself observe security situation of the province and take notice of security lapses.
The governor made it very clear if any security official found demonstrating negligence in discharging of his duty would be fired without serving any notice.
Rahimi lambasted intelligence officials for not pointing out terrorists’ sanctuaries to dismantle them. The National Directorate of Security (NDS) could not confront the intelligence war, he said, underlining close coordination and active role by other institutions.
He lamented that criminal officials had been asked to conduct operations against criminals in cities and district, but they offered excuse and said that operation against such elements would create more problems.
In recent days, at least 21 policemen have been killed in Grishk, Musa Qala and Sangin districts.
