Over $30 million anomalies unearthed in urban ministry: AGO
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Attorney General Office (AGO) on Monday said that more than $30 million graft has been unearthed in the Ministry of Urban Development and the cases against those allegedly involved in the scam would be referred to the courts for proceedings.
Speaking to reporters, acting Attorney General (AG) Noor Habib Jalal said that investigations into the graft charges against individuals in the Ministry of Urban Development had been completed and their cases would be referred to the court in two or three days.
Out of 26 alleged employees of the ministry, he said six were involved in mass embezzlement and some of them had been arrested by the law enforcement agencies.
According to the AGO, Ahmad Nawaz Bakhtyar, Mohammad Amin Qani, Ahmad Shah Himat, Mohammad Amin Amin, Gul Rahim Zyarmal and 20 others employees of the ministry had been found guilty in the graft and out of them some were arrested and the remaining were being investigated.
Earlier, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani dismissed six high ranking officials of the Ministry of Urban Development following their involvement in misappropriation.
