13 welfare projects launched in Samangan
AIBAK (Pajhwok): At least 13 welfare projects, including construction of 9-kilometres of road, have been launched in northern Samangan province worth 42 million afghanis, director public works said on Tuesday.
Eng. Zia Humayun said the projects would be completed over the next six months. He said the road in Roy Doab district linked six villages to the main road in the district.
The road, he added, would be nine-kilometres long and five-metres wide. In addition, 17 culverts would also be built along the way.
Construction work would take six months time and provide employment opportunities for hundreds of locals.
Similarly, another 33 million afghanis for the project would be paid by the ministry of public works, he added.
Samaruddin Shah Rukhi, spokesperson for the rural rehabilitation and development department, said 12 projects had been launched by the Swedish Committee in the province.
Construction of cultural centres, 4-kilometres of road, and construction of shops in 12 villages of Dara-e-Souf district would be among the projects. He added these projects would also take six months to complete.
