26 drug smugglers arrested countrywide: CJTF
KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 26 drug smugglers have been arrested by police in different parts of the country with their cases referred to judicial organs of the counternarcotics department, the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement added the drug smugglers were detained in Balkh, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Jawzjan, Takhar, Parwan and Badakhshan provinces.
After initial investigations, the cases of the smugglers had been referred to special attorney office of counternarcotics.
The statement added that 24 kilograms of heroin, over 385 kilograms of opium, 218 kilograms of hashish, some weapons, 28 sets of mobile telephones and 10 vehicles were also seized from the detainees.
However, the statement did not disclose the identity of their nationality.
According to the special CJTF court, 328 people had been detained in the first four months of current year.
Most of the cases were registered in Kandahar, Helmand and Nangarhar provinces.
