Independence Day to be celebrated with zeal countrywide
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan’s 96th Independence Day would be celebrated tomorrow (Wednesday) with national fervor across the country and capital Kabul with national flags would fly half-mast on government buildings.
All preparations have been finalized to mark the day. Afghans exchanged felicitations one day ahead of Independence Day and pasted Afghan flag on their profile pictures.
The Independence Day is being celebrated throughout out the country with national zeal and enthusiasm by holding special programmes and ceremonies.
Former King Ghazi Amanullah achieved independence from Great Britain 95 years ago, though Afghanistan has never been a British colony.
The first Anglo-Afghan war took place in 1839, the second in 1880 and the third in 1919. The British forces were forced to strike a deal with Afghans and declared Afghanistan an independent state.
