Girl's killer awarded death penalty; accomplices get jail sentences
ZARANJ (Pajhwok): A man was awarded death penalty while three other men were sentenced to different jail terms for their involvement in killing a girl in southwestern Nimroz province, an official said Sunday.
The girl Fawzia, 12, disappeared on her way from school to home in Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province, earlier this year. Her body was, later, found five days after her abduction by unknown people.
Police detained three women and as many men from immediate relatives of the slain girl that were accused of involvement in the case.
Nimroz appellant court accused a 25 years old Sheikh Ahmad as the main accused in the case after Criminal officers found his cloths infected with blood.
The convicted crime was proved in presence of evidences and the court awarded him death penalty.
However, Sheikh Ahmad denied the claim and said that he was not involved in the case.
However, Ahmad’s brother Jan Mohammad, his father Mohammad Ali were awarded 20 years jail term while his sister was awarded six years in prison. Two other members of the family were released on the basis of lack of evidence.
