2 engineers killed as militants attack Balochistan airport
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Two engineers were killed and a third kidnapped on Sunday morning when militants stormed an airport in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.
Local media reported the assailants opened fire at the Jiwani airport in Gwadar district, killing electronics superintendent Khalilullah and one of his colleagues. Six attackers on motorcycles attacked the facility near the coastal border with Iran.
Electronics Engineer Mehmudullah was kidnapped from the airport, according to Dawn, which said security was not tight in and around the facility. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack
“Two engineer were killed and an assistant engineer injured during the attack,” the Express Tribune quoted a Levies source as saying. The airport’s radar system was also destroyed.
