NPC approves 15 contracts, claims saving 167m afs

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Committee (NPC) has approved 15 contracts of the ministries of defence, interior, educationinfo-icon, labour and social affairs and Da Afghanistaninfo-icon Brishna Shirka (DABS).

A statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday evening presided over a meeting of the NPC, which approved the 5.9 billion afghanis worth contracts.

The contracts were about a 500 kilowatt power transmission line from Aqina to Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjab province, and the extension of 220 kilowatts of electricity from Shiberghan to Mazar-i-Sharif.

Other contracts approved were about the development of sub-stations in Andkhoi, Shiberghan and Mazar-i-Sharif, the statement added.

It said 105 million afghanis were saved in four contracts of the Interior Ministry as compared to last years’ contracts and 62 million afghanis were saved in seven Defence Ministry contracts compared to the previous year.

President Ghani directed the Ministry of Finance and the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) to evaluate the procurement situation in different provinces with the help of the national procurement authority.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Second Vice-President Mohammad Sarwar Danish and ministers of finance, justice and economy were in attendance.
