September 1, 2015 For Immediate Release
(Kabul, September 1, 2015) – The Third Annual Afghan Social Media Summit (#ASMS2015) will take place on October 18-20 in Kabul, Afghanistan and will feature an exciting line-up of Afghan and international experts and practitioners who will speak about cutting-edge trends and topics on social media. Attendees are able to register for the event now.
A cross between the world-famous “TED Conferences,” an “unconference,” and a hackathon, #ASMS2015 is Afghanistan’s premiere event on technology, innovation, and social media. The Afghan Social Media Summit 2015 will bring together over 1,000 participants and speakers from all over Afghanistan and abroad to Kabul for a three-day national event with the goal to connect and develop the burgeoning Afghan social media community.
This year’s summit will feature tech demos, exhibitions, panel discussions and interactive workshops offered by some of the leading experts from Afghanistan and abroad.
Aimal Marjan, deputy minister of MCIT, a technology pioneer in Afghanistan, has been key in developing the information communication technology sector. Mrs. Sayeda Mojgan Mostafavi Deputy Minister MoIC will start the discussion about whether Afghanistan needs a media law regulating social media.
“Our staff has worked hard to put together a truly spectacular event that informs, educates and exposes Afghan netizens to the latest in the world of social media and technology,” said Ahmad Shuja, Managing Partner at Impassion Afghanistan. “Many of the speakers are highly sought-after international stars in their fields and will be speaking in Afghanistan for the first time.”
#ASMS2015 is co-sponsored by the Embassy of the United States and is supported by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and Ministry of Information and Culture. Our broadcast media partners are Shamshad TV, and the print and online media partners are Pajhwok Afghan News.
