14 rebels eliminated in Ghor clash
FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): At least 14 insurgents were killed and four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were wounded during separate incidents in western Ghor province, officials said on Saturday.
The 14 insurgents were killed during a clash with an anti-Taliban militia of volunteers in the Taiwara district, said Qari Abdul Zahir Tamim, the towns’s administrative chief.
Another seven rebels were wounded during the gun-battle that erupted after a group of 300 insurgents mounted an attack on seven villages in the district, he said.
Security forces swiftly reached the area and repulsed the attack and inflicted heavy casualties on the rebels, he said. Three volunteers also were killed and another four wounded in the clash.
The governor’s spokesman, Abdul Hai Khatibi, said nothing about the clash in Taiwara district, but said four ANA soldier had been wounded in an explosion in Chardara district.
