Russia to invest in Afghan construction, housing sectors
Sentyurin, who called on Afghan Urban Development Minister Syed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, said Moscow was ready to rehabilitate and strength Khana Sazi, a government construction firm that constructs homes, in building affordable homes using latest technology and improved system.
The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) in a statement said an agreement was reached with a Russian construction company on the inception of a new construction company, Cardinal, with 49 and 51 percent partnership.
After signing the accord, the statement said, the Cardinal Company would dispatch construction materials worth $25 million to the Khana Sazi.
The ministry said the investment would help construct 1000 apartments annually in the country.
An Afghan official delegation headed by Naderi is expected to visit Russia to review technologies and equipment besides signing the agreement between the two nations.
Other major projects constructed by Russia include Salang tunnel, Naghlu dam, Kabul polytechnic university, Kabul Jangalak Takhnikom, Mazar-i-Sharif electricity factory, Silo factories in Kabul and Mazar and Ghaziabad-Hada farm in Jalalabad city.
