Suicide bombing leaves 8 injured in Pul-i-Alam
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A suicide car bomber struck in the middle of a bazaar in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of central Logar province, on Saturday morning.
The bomber detonated his explosives-laden car in the Shaheedano Square at 8.30am, wounding eight people, the governor’s spokesman said.
Salim Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News the attacker failed to reach his target, government compounds in the city.
Shopkeeper Shah Mahmood, giving an eyewitness account of the bombing, said: “A short while ago, a powerful car blast shook the area.”
He claimed seeing 10 bleeding individuals at the site. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the assault.
Col. Mohammad Jan Abid, crime branch chief at the police headquarters, said they had prior information about the suicide bombing.
All injured individuals are civilians, according to him. “The bomber, who came from the Zarghoon area of Mohammad Agha district, was being chased by police.”
