ANA vehicles hijacked by Taliban destroyed in airstrike
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Foreign troops have destroyed in airstrike the six Afghan National Army (ANA) vehicles that Taliban had recently hijacked in the Nawzad district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.
Gen. Daud Shah Wafadar, commander of the 205th ANA Corps in Kandahar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the air raid was conducted in the Band-i-Taimur area of Maiwand district last evening.
He said the militants had seized the six military vehicles along with weapons and ammunition in Nawzad district. The Taliban were shifting the vehicles and arms to Band-i-Taimur when they came under attack from international forces.
All the six vehicles and four heavy machineguns were destroyed and seven insurgents eliminated during the strike, which caused civilians no harm, the commander added.
Separately, one civilian was killed and three others were wounded by unidentified gunmen near the Shikarpur Gate in Kandahar City at 8.30am, according to the governor’s spokesman, Samim Khpalwak said.
