Makkah mosque incidents: Afghans among casualties

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghans are among casualties from the crane collapse in the Masjid al-Haram in holy city of Makkah, an official said on Saturday.

Media reports say that 107 worshippers were killed and 238 wounded late on Friday when a crane fell in the worldinfo-icon’s largest mosqueinfo-icon.

Hajjinfo-icon and Religious Affairs official Dayee-ul-Haq Abid told Pajhwok Afghan News a resident of the Kalakan district of Kabul was among the dead.

Without giving more details, he said that 29 other Afghan pilgrims were wounded in the incident. Eighteen of them were discharged from hospitals after receiving first aid.
