325kg of hashish seized from ANA vehicle in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Police seized 325 kilograms of hashish from an Afghan National Army (ANA) pick-up and detained four individuals in military uniforms in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told a news conference in Jalalabad that the Ranger vehicle was intercepted in the Samar Khel area of Behsud district.
“The vehicle was carrying 325 kilograms of hashish smuggled from Baghlan and passed through Kabul and Jalalabad checkpoints. However, it was stopped in Samar Khel for a search,” he said.
Four people in military uniforms travelling in the vehicle were arrested, he said. Mashriqiwal added it was still unclear whether or not the detainees were security personnel.
The drug traffickers were also equipped with weapons, he said. The pick-up, the detainees and the drugs were shown to reporters.
It is the first time such an amount of narcotics has been seized from a military vehicle in Nangarhar.
