2 notorious Taliban commanders eliminated
MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): Two notorious Taliban commanders from central Kapisa province have been killed by security forces in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
Kapisa police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Karim Faiq, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgent commanders, had recently traveled from the Tagab district of Kapisa to Nangarhar.
Bodies of the slain commanders were shifted to Tagab district on Sunday, he said, adding the security situation was better in the area.
“Some insurgents sneaked into Nangarhar last month to fight against Islamic State fighters. Some people say the commanders were killed by security forces, others claim they were put to death by the IS,” Faiq said.
Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander in Tagab Khwaja Agha Safi also said the security situation had become better after the rebel commanders’ killing.
