8 Al Qaeda men, 2 bombers killed in clashes: NDS
KABUL (Pajhwok): Two suicide bombers and eight Al Qaeda members, including their commander, have been killed during separate clashes with security forces in eastern Nangarhar and southeastern Paktika provinces, the spy service said on Monday.
A statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the alleged two suicide bombers were killed during a clash near Jalalabad, Nangarhar’s capital, at a time when the two wanted to enter the city and carry out their attack.
The statement claimed the bombers had been sent by Gul Agha, the Taliban’s shadow chief for Lalpur district, and Abdul Alim, the group’s military commander.
Separately, Afghan and foreign security forces jointly raided five militant hideouts in Gomal district of southeastern Paktika province, killing eight Al Qaeda members, including their commander Khuram.
