Olympic Committee denies Hashimi resigned
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Olympic Committee (NOC)’s acting deputy chairman on Monday denied rumours that the committee’s chairman Fahim Hashimi had resigned.
Some media outlets on Sunday quoted sources close to Hashimi that he had resigned as the NOC chairman.
But the committee’s acting deputy chief, Javed Dilawar, rejected as false the reports at a press conference here.” These media reports are false and Hashimi has so far said nothing verbally or in written form about his resignation.”
He said Hashimi was currently on a foreign trip and would resume duty on return, adding that the rumours were being spread by those who were against sports and had personal grudges against Hashimi.
While acknowledging some differences within the committee, Dilawar said an investigation into the matter by a delegation from the Presidential Palace was ongoing.
Without naming anyone, he said, individuals creating hurdles to the development of sports in the country would be brought to justice.
