2 former Kabul mayors summoned to AGO
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Attorney General Office (AGO) said on Tuesday it had summoned two former Kabul mayors over complaints against them but not banned them from leaving the country.
“Mohammad Younus Nawandesh and Rohullah Aman were summoned to answer questions about the complaints,” AGO spokesman Basir Azizi told reporters here.
Without naming them, he said, some other Kabul municipality officials needed to be investigated.
The AGO summoned the former mayors last week, but only Nawandesh appeared on Monday, he said.
Azizi denied sharing charges against the former mayors with the media until the AGO investigation was over because legally they had no right share such information in cases under prosecution.
Some reports suggest that Nawandesh, Aman and some other Kabul municipality officials have been barred from leaving the country after they were accused of selling 24 residential blocks and illegally distributing 32.5 acres of land to people.
