5 civilians, soldier dead as Taliban open fire at car
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): At least five civilians and an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier have been killed in a militant’s attack in the Andar district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.
Shafiq Nang, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants opened fire at a civilian car, in which two ANA soldiers were also traveling from Chard-i-Wal area to Paktika province.
He said five civilians and an ANA soldier were killed in the gun attack. Another soldier was wounded. The soldiers were going to their duty station.
But a resident of the area, Mohammad Jamil, said seven people were killed and one wounded in the incident. “The Taliban had received a tip-off about the soldiers’ presence in the car,” he said.
So far, the Taliban have not commented on the incident, but the group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed killing five soldiers in the Shilgar area of Ghazni province.
