Spin Ghar, Bost cricket teams earn victories

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Spin Ghar and Bost cricket teams registered victories in the ongoing domestic Alokozai Ahmad Shah Abdali four-dayer cricket tournament being played simultaneously in eastern Nangarhar and southeastern Khost provinces.

Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the four-day match between Spin Ghar and Band-i-Amir clubs was played at the privately-owned cricket ground in Khost City.

In their first innings, Band-i-Amir scored 255 runs, with Imran Jannat and Nisar Wihdat contributing 84 and 80 runs respectively to the side. For Spin Ghar, Karim Sadiq and Zahir Shehzad shared three wickets each and Farid Ahmad and Zahir Khan two each.

In response, Spin Ghar managed to score 416 runs, leaving the rival side to chase 161 lead, thanks to Shabir Noori’s double century.  He scored 214 runs followed by Humayun Omar who contributed 78 runs to his side.

In their second innings, Band-i-Amir team made 247 runs and set the Spin Ghar 76 runs target, which they chased with ease.  For Spin Ghar, Farid Ahmad clinched five wickets. Shabir Noori was declared the man of the match.

In Nangarhar, Bost Zone team won the four-day match against Amu Zone at the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Stadium in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

Amu Zone in their first innings made 106 runs for the loss of all wickets and in response the Bost team piled up 217 runs, giving the rivals 111 runs lead.

In their second innings, the Amu side made 159 runs and set the Bost team 68 runs target which they achieved with six wickets in hand.

With 40 points, Mes Ainak team has first position, Spin Ghar with the same points are in second position while Amu and Band-i-Amir sides have third and fourth positions respectively in the tournament.
