6 police killed, 12 wounded in Farah clashes
FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Half a dozen police were killed and a dozen more injured during a massive midnight Taliban attack on a number of security posts in western Farah province, an official said on Thursday.
The armed insurgents stormed a number of police posts on the Herat-Farah highway at about 12am last night, injuring two policemen, Farah police spokesman Iqbal Bahar told Pajhwok Afghan News,.
But an Afghan National Army’s 207 Military Corps official, who declined to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News that six policemen had been killed and another 12 wounded in the attacks. He said one policeman was missing.
The ANA official said the dead body of one Taliban fighter was found left on the battlefield along with a rocket launcher.
Taliban’s spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi said the fighters stormed a number of security posts in Farahrud district, killing a number of police and destroying their two posts.
He said five fighters were killed and seven others were wounded during the clashes.
