3 detained for trying to smuggle 129kg of heroin to Iran
ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Three people trying to smuggle 129 kilograms of heroin to Iran were arrested in the western province of Nimroz, officials said on Saturday.
The traffickers had placed the drugs in two containers and police recovered them from the trucks parked in a garage in Zaranj, the provincial police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Dilawar Shah Dilawar told Pajhwok Afghan News the smugglers had brought the drugs from Helmand province and wanted to smuggle them to the Bandar Abas port of Iran.
Hailing from neighbouring Helmand province, the men were arrested on charges of smuggling 129 kilograms of drugs, Counter-Narcotics Director Maj. Parwez Sarwari said.
