8 ALP men killed under mysterious circumstances in Zabul
QALAT (Pajhwok): Eight Afghan Local Police (ALP) members have been killed mysteriously at a checkpoint in southern Zabul province, officials said on Saturday.
The eight policemen were killed on Friday night in the Bagh area of Arghandab district, a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity.
A delegation had been sent to the scene for investigation, the source said, without giving details of the incident.
Arghandab district chief Momand Nusratyar said they would share detailed information with the media after the investigation was completed.
Police spokesman Fawad Askari confirmed the incident, saying a delegation had been dispatched to the area to ascertain the cause of the killings.
However, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said the fighters had killed 17 policemen and injured three others in the restive town.
