43 Afghan citizens detained by Pakistani forces

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): More than 40 Afghan citizens have been detained in separate raids by Pakistani security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab provinces.

In KP’s garrison town of Kohat, security forces seized a huge quantity of weapons and also arrested 96 suspects, including 21 Afghans late on Saturday. The operation was conducted in areas around a PAF base.

The security personnel carried out a house-to-house search in in cantonment, Officers Training School area, Dheri Banda, Miangan Colony and other residential areas around the airbase.

A report in the Express Tribune said five Kalashnikovs, three 12-bore repeaters, six shotguns, four rifles, 17 pistols and thousands of cartridges were recovered from the suspects.

The Afghan citizens, staying illegally in the city, were sent to prison. Some owners of rented houses and hotels were also held for allowing non-locals to stay there without registering their personal datainfo-icon.

In Punjab province, police arrested 22 illegal Afghans during a raid in Rawalpindi. Cases against the detainees were registered under the Punjab Tenants Ordinance of 2015.
