Spin Ghar reach Abdali cricket tournament final
KABUL (Pajhwok): The semifinals match between Amu and Spin Ghar teams ended in a draw on Sunday but Spin Ghar marched to the final of Alokozai Ahmad Shah Abdali cricket tournament for having more points.
The final day of the four-day match at the Ghazni Amanullah Khan Stadium in eastern Nangarhar province was abandoned due to a wet outfield following rain and the match was drawn.
Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News that Amu team won the toss and invited Spin Ghar to bat first.
In their first innings, Spin Ghar made 549 runs, with Shabir Noori contributing 102 runs, Farid Malak 75, Najib Taraki 57, Karim Sadiq 57, Humayun Omar 60, Nasim Surkhrodi 57 and Batin Shah 66 runs.
For Amu, Javed Ahmadi clinched five wickets and Osman Ghani and Sharfuddin shared two wickets each.
The Amu batsmen managed to score only 198 runs in their first innings and Spin Ghar earned 351 runs lead.
For Spin Ghar, Farid Malk and Karim Sadiq shared three wickets each while Batin Shah grabbed two wickets and Zahir Shahzad one.
Starting their second innings, Spin Ghar made 60 runs for the loss of two wickets, but the match was abandoned after heavy rains and umpires decided to declare the match as drawn.
The umpires gave 14 points to Spin Ghar and six points to Amu increasing Spin Ghair’s total points to 35.
The semifinals match between Bost and Mes Ainak teams is ongoing in southeastern Khost province and the Mes Ainak team is expected to reach the final with Spin Ghar.
