Security improving in Kajaki, Musa Qala: police

Sep 23, 2015 - 20:23

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The police chief for southern Helmand province on Wednesday said the security situation in Kajaki and Musa Qala districts was improving and assured special measures had been put in place for security during Eid.

Maj. Gen. Nabi Jan Mullahinfo-icon Khail told journalists in Lashkargah city that he held several meetings with Musa Qala’s elders on Tuesday when he visited the town.

According to Mullah Khail, the Musa Qala residents demanded security and government’s attention to other sections.

He said more clearing operations would be launched in the district on ad hoc basis and facilities would be provided for the implementation of development projects.

He said the Talibaninfo-icon had been pushed back from most of the areas in Kajaki district where security forces received logistics widely.

The police chief said the insurgents had diverted all their energies to the two districts but still faced defeat. He assured the rebels would never reach areas where factories and dams were located in Kajaki district.

Mullah Khail said on Tuesday night that a Taliban commander and his few men were also killed in the district.

He also said special security measures were in place in these two districts and in all other areas of the province on account of Eid-ul-Adha.
