7-member terror group busted in Kandahar
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Intelligence officials have arrested a seven-member group of “terrorists” during a special operation in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Thursday.
Provincial government spokesman Samim Khpalwak said the detainees belonged to Pishin and Qila Saifullah districts of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
He said the seven-member group leader, Zainullah, had made faked Afghan national identity cards for the detainees in Chaman border town. The alleged terrorists wanted to carry out terrorist activities in Greshk district of neighbouring Helmand province, the official said
But they were arrested in Kandahar City’s 10th police district before reaching Greshk district by National Directorate of Security operatives during a series of riads, Khpalwak added.
Six faked ID cards and 200,000 Pakistani rupees had also been recovered from the detainees who had confessed to their involvement in terrorist and subversive activities, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
The Taliban have so far said nothing about the arrests.
