28 re-arrested after escaping from Ghazni prison: Official
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials say that 28 inmates, who fled from the central prison of southern Ghazni province in the wake of a militant attack, have been re-arrested.
In late September, the Taliban smashed an explosives-laden car into the jail wall. The ensuing shootout left dead four of the attackers and as many policemen guarding the jail. Some 436 inmates fled.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief for Ghazni, Ali Ahmad Mubarez, told Pajhwok Afghan News they had launched an operation to re-arrest the inmates those who escaped from the prison.
He said that security forces had recaptured 28 of escapees. Two rebels planning to attack Ghazni City were also detained Friday night. But Mubarez did not provide more details.
